ICD and CRT D Implantation

ICD (Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator) and CRT-D (Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy with Defibrillator) are advanced medical devices implanted to manage life-threatening heart conditions.

ICD implantation involves placing a small device under the skin, which monitors the heart's rhythm and delivers electrical shocks when it detects dangerous arrhythmias, such as ventricular fibrillation, to prevent sudden cardiac arrest.

CRT-D implantation combines the functions of a pacemaker and a defibrillator. It is used in patients with heart failure to improve the coordination of the heart's contractions (resynchronization) and also protect against arrhythmias. The CRT-D delivers pacing to both the right and left ventricles and can provide defibrillation if needed.
